United States - January 05th, 2008: A recent research conducted by an American organization in South Korea tried to determine the effects of circumcision in men’s sex lives, particularly masturbation.
South Korea was chosen for this research due to having one of the highest rates of circumcised men in the world. Most circumcisions in South Korea are performed later in life, and not during the neo natal period. This was essential to evaluate the differences in sex life before and after the procedure.
The results are quite remarkable. Although most men can’t point major differences when it comes to erection, ejaculation or even sexual drive, 48% of the interviewed reported that their pleasure decreased considerably after circumcision, when it comes to self-pleasure. In addition, 9% reported penile scarring during masturbation. Specialists say that lack of pleasure may be caused by the loss of important nerve endings on the prepuce, while the scarring comes from the lack of proper lubrication, something that does not occur during sexual intercourse as it’s counterbalanced by female natural or artificial lubrication.
